What Happened in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, as Described by the MCU?
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special debuted on Disney+ on Black Friday of this year.
Finally, the holiday season has here, and to greet its fans, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has published its first special. Favorite characters including Star-Lord, Rocket, and the remaining Guardians of the Galaxy team members returned in the 44-minute television program (safe for one).
What took place in the holiday episode of Guardians of the Galaxy?
In the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Mantis and Drax tried to take Kevin Bacon hostage and deliver him to Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, as a gift. Nothing more or less was supplied by the show than what was hinted at prior to its airing. After the Guardians' most recent appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, or about in the year 2024 of the MCU, the tale took place.
Given that the slim Groot viewers saw in the most recent Thor movie looked like the bulked-up Groot version from the Holiday Special, it may be assumed that more time has elapsed since Love and Thunder (unless Groot has extraordinary growth abilities).
The holiday special also provided a preview of what will happen in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. First, viewers learned that Knowhere was being rebuilt after the Guardians purchased it from the Collector. The antagonist from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 apparently made it through Thanos' strike during the struggle for the Power Stone and is still alive.
Second, Cosmo, the Spacedog demonstrated his telekinetic abilities and received a new voice (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm's Maria Bakalova). There appeared to be a unique bond between him and Rocket. Cosmic rays gave the fictional character Cosmo, who participated in the Soviet space program, strange skills. Vol. 3 will probably continue the story of his friendship with Rocket.
The Holiday Special also made it known that Mantis is Star-sister Lord's and one of Ego's progeny. Because Ego attempted to kill Quill in Vol. 2, the Celestial hybrid was initially hesitant to tell him, but she eventually worked up the bravery to do so, much to Star-delight. Lord's The tale also revealed how the commander of the Guardians came into possession of his recognizable weapons: Yondu gave them to him as a Christmas present when Peter was still a young child.
It's also important to note that Rocket received Bucky Barnes' vibranium-clad robotic arm from Nebula for Christmas. Since it appeared to be Barnes' own arm and not a copy, the unexpected scene had a big impact. And lastly, Gamora was nowhere to be found. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos sacrificed the Guardian in order to obtain the Soul Stone. Star-Lord misses her even though it has already been a while since she passed away.
